Settlements and Hebron
By Micah Danney and Sean Shoemaker
HEBRON, West Bank – The building of Israeli settlements in the West Bank has been controversial for decades. Israel maintains a military occupation of the territory, which Palestinians hope to have as a state of their own. Israeli settlers have grown in number to more than 400,000, and in a conflict largely about land rights, some say settlements are the main obstacle to an agreement that would achieve peace.
